Cloths of Heaven

William Butler Yeats

Cloths of Heaven

Had I the heavens’ embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half-light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.

Am găsit o traducere într-o mică carte de buzunar: “Pentru iubirea mea” – Helen Exley:

Totul pentru tine

De-aş fi avut bogatele straie cereşti
în lumini de aur şi argint urzite,
albastrele, moi, întunecate văluri cereşti
ale zilei, amiezii ori nopţii cernite,
la picioarele tale le-aş fi aşternut,
dar vai, sărăcia se-mbracă doar în vise
şi-atunci visele toate ţi le-am aşternut:
calcă blând, căci umbli pe vise.
